Our f*ed up system.
I'm a huge fan of Law & Order: SVU. Mostly because of Mariska Hargitay (Can I just say HAWT?!). The stories told are of such an importance. Sometimes they leave me filled with mixed feelings of sadness and madness about this world, combined with feeling enlightenent, enriched. Tonight's episode was one of those.
An eight year old was put to trial for the murder on one of the guys from school. She was being bullied because her moms were lesbians. An eight year old in therapy, indoctrinated by feelings of hate.
That's not even half the story though. One of her moms is dying while her other mom is being charged with sexual assault against the little girl. Her grandma (plus her autorny) made her believe that, because they believed homosexuality is a sin.
I know it's fiction, I know it is dramatised, but, unfortunately, it is real. Kids get bullied, harassed, in school because they have two moms or dads. In school, where they are supposed to learn about the world in all its forms and shapes, kids are getting brainwashed by the ideas of some.
It's so twisted. If I, for some reason, would try to impose my "homosexual lifestyle" upon someone the world would be too small for all the criticism and hate that would raise. On the other hand, it's totally accepted when someone else try to make someone else belief what they belief. I accept everyone right to his or her own beliefs, but why do we have to impose them on others? Why can't we belief what we want to without wanting everyone to feel the same way? Kids for God's/Allah's/fill in here whoever/whatever you want)'s sake!
It doesn't happen in far away and "uncivilized" countries. It happens right her and right now.
Teaching kids hate.
(How I loved Mariska Hargitay (whoops I mean Olivia Benson!) standing up for us gays. I know who I'll be dreaming about tonight)
