Nov. 4.

I tried to read, watch and listen myself in on the elections as much as I could. Unfortunately I didn't gather as much info as I wanted, for some reason or an other. Right now, I'm watching Phara on the Belgium television, mainly because Sarah Bettens is one of the guests on the show, but it's rather interesting. It's quite superficial- no new info- but it's quite refreshing to hear a European guy speak out his support for John McCain. Not that I'm a McCain/Palin fan or whatsoever, but I actually haven't heard of one Dutch/Belgium politician or expert on the matter speak out for McCain.
It's actually pretty interesting, although he didn't convince me at all on the matter. I'm still hugely pro-Obama. Although I don't agree on all his standpoints (like gay marriage for one thing) I think he can be the change the world is so definitely needing. I doubt I'll be saying anything new here, but I do feel I need to share my opinions on this historical subject.
Originally I was pro-Clinton. I liked the fact that she was a strong woman the world is already familiar with. But when it became obvious she wasn't going to be the Democratic presidential candidate it wasn't hard to change to Obama. And although some might disagree with me, I do think superficial factors play a role. For what it's worth, Obama is, to me, a highly charismatic man. He seems authentic and really impassioned about the things he stands for. I believe him. Besides that, I just don't think the USA (or the world for that matter) needs an other military leader, especially since Bush gets away easy now, leaving us two wars and a huge financial crisis. We need someone social. Someone who wants to bring people together instead of moving them apart. I have seen what that's like on a small scale (the influence of scary Dutch right wing politicians) so I know that's not what I want for the world.

I'm excited. Go Obama!!
